Abstract

This research aims to determine the importance of the teatrín (miniature theater) in the development of language in children aged 12 to 36 months at the Yachay Wasi Child Development Center, located in the Cruz Chicta community, Tena canton, Napo province, Ecuador. Through a qualitative, descriptive, and field-based approach, the study theoretically supports the teatrín as a playful and pedagogical tool that fosters oral expression, imagination, social interaction, and role comprehension. Observation instruments and achievement indicator records were applied to 23 children grouped by age to diagnose their linguistic development. As part of the intervention, the teatrín corner was implemented using recyclable materials adapted to the Amazonian context, with active participation from teachers and the community. This pedagogical strategy led to noticeable improvements in verbal fluency, vocabulary acquisition, auditory comprehension, and emotional expression. The study concludes that the teatrín corner is an effective, contextualized, and replicable strategy aligned with Ecuador's Early Childhood Education Curriculum. It strengthens not only language development but also the comprehensive growth of children in rural and intercultural educational settings.
