| Abstract: | El bajo acceso al consumo de agua potable junto con condiciones inadecuadas de saneamiento higiene son los principales causantes de enfermedades diarreicas, que producen aproximadamente 1,8 millones de muertes anuales a nivel mundial. El suministro de agua potable a través de sistemas centralizados es una tarea difícil en países en desarrollo. Estos sistemas a gran escala involucran grandes esfuerzos de operación y mantenimiento, y siempre existe el riesgo de contaminación del agua durante los procesos de distribución y manejo en el lugar de consumo en hogares, escuelas entre otros, Por consiguiente, el tratamiento de agua a nivel doméstico, por medio del uso de opciones simples y efectivas, pueden reducir significativamente la incidencia de enfermedades transmitidas por el agua. Los conocidos tratamientos de agua y almacenamiento seguro incluyen opciones como hervir, filtrar, clorar y la desinfección solar del agua. Se recomienda que las autoridades del Ministerio de Salud Pública que continúen realizando campañas de promoción y prevención sobre salubridad en la comunidad Omawa Loma del Tigre, mediante el Proyecto Educativo sobre Consumo de Agua Segura. |
| Description: | Poor access to drink water together with inadequate sanitation conditions are the main cause of diarrheal diseases, which produce approximately 1.8 million annual deaths worldwide. The provision of potable water through centralized systems is a difficult task in developing countries. These large-scale systems involve major operation and maintenance efforts, and there is always the risk of water contamination during the distribution and management processes at the place of consumption in households, schools, etc. Therefore, water treatment at the household level, through the use of simple and effective options, can significantly reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases. Well-known Water and Safe storage treatments include options such as boiling, filtering, chlorination and solar water disinfection. It is recommended that the authorities of the Ministry of Public Health, in, continue to carry out prevention campaigns on health in the most vulnerable populations of Ecuadorian territory, through the Safe Water Consumption Education Project. |
